If you won't drink hot water on a hot day.....what makes you think it's a great idea for your animals..... thank you Diamond C Livestock for a great reminder today with your PSA!!PSA: Go dump and refill your waters.

With a heat index of 120 degrees, your show sheep and breeding stock are struggling. Just because there is water in a bucket in their pen, doesn't mean it's helping. If the water is the temperature of a bathtub or has 8 hours' worth of barn grossness floating in it, they're only consuming it as a last resort and it isn't doing much to keep anyone cool.

To follow this page is to know we're particular about water. We always dump and refill morning and night (yes, even in the winter). But, this time of year we add a midday round as well.

Fans, clean bedding, and ample shade with good ventilation are all important, but don't neglect the simplest tool in your arsenal: cold, fresh water.
